In 1985 Kenilworth Union Church under the leadership of Dr. Gilbert W. Bowen secured a large parcel of land adjacent to the church, designed and created a Memorial Garden in which the names of deceased members can be memorialized on granite plaques in stone walls situated throughout. For those who desire, urns may also be buried in front of their plaque. Over the years the garden has grown through additional walls and landscaping, including an American flag pole and a sculpture of birds rising skyward. Upon Dr. Bowen’s retirement in 2007, the church honored him and his wife by dedicating the garden as The Marlene and Gilbert W. Bowen Memorial Garden.
